The family-run independent business began in the summer of 2023, established by Tom Kiernan after leaving university early, at 18.
We serve exceptional barista coffee, including a premium chemical-free
decaf, and a full range of teas, alongside, locally sourced hot chocolate
and chai lattes from Milton, Cambridge. Our menu features a selection
of local cold drinks from Cambridge as well as freshly baked artisan
pastries, cakes, and savoury options delivered daily from a local bakery.
We specialise in large public events such as festivals, sporting events, charity fundraisers, and seasonal attractions like sunflower and pumpkin patches. Our horsebox has served at major events including the Cambridge Half Marathon and National Trust locations. We also cater to private occasions like weddings, corporate events, film sets, team-building days, and office pop-ups.
We are proud members of NCASS, who have provided accredited training
including Level 2 Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, Health & Safety, First
Aid Essentials, Fire Extinguisher Essentials, Safe use of LPG, Using HACCP
Based Systems To Keep Food Safe. We are also thrilled to share that we have been awarded a 5-star Food Hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency.
We use a Fracino dual-fuel machine to craft premium espresso coffee anywhere, even in remote locations. Our silent, zero-emission EcoFlow power system runs the entire horsebox, supported by solar panels for added green energy. This fully self-sufficient setup means we don’t need access to external power, making us both flexible and environmentally friendly.
We were honoured to be interviewed by NCASS, who spotlighted our journey from start-up struggles to trading at major events. The feature shares how we launched Kiernan’s Coffee, overcame early challenges, and built a business rooted in passion, community, and quality.
We were proudly featured in Cambridge Edition, where Tom shared the story behind Kiernan’s Coffee - from launching the business at 19 to building a brand based on passion, resilience, and artisan coffee. The piece celebrates local entrepreneurship and the power of chasing your vision, no matter how young you start.
